Skin cancer

Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers, with Australia having the highest incidence in the world. Over two-thirds of Australians will develop a skin cancer during their lives. If not properly treated, skin cancers may spread and become life threatening.

Our surgeons have extensive experience treating skin cancers, including the more common types such as basal cell carcinomas (BCC) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) through to melanoma.

How much will my surgery cost?

As with all surgeries performed in a private hospital there is an out-of-pocket fee. The amount will depend on the surgery you’re having and, where you have private health fund cover, whether the surgery that is right for you is included in that cover. Your surgeon can give you an indication of out-of-pocket costs.

You can also choose to self-fund your surgery. Your surgeon can talk to you about this option.

What next?

Get started by asking your GP for a referral to one of our world class plastic and reconstructive surgeons at Brisbane Private Hospital. Our team of dedicated surgeons and nurses provide high-quality care, from your initial consultation to treatment and aftercare. Rest assured, our focus is you.

Please remember, only a specialist can advise whether plastic and reconstructive surgery is right for you. And only you can be comfortable going ahead once you have all the information.

Before agreeing to any treatment, make sure you understand what it involves and any possible side effects and the risks. It’s vital that you seek specialist medical advice that’s right for your circumstances.
